A Safe Harvest Starts With National Farm Safety & Health Week!
Prevent Farming Accidents
As you begin harvest season, Birkey's would like to encourage all farmers to be mindful of their own well-being, as well as others. Despite having a smaller population of workers than many other professions, agricultural work is considered one of the most dangerous jobs. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, there were 574 fatalities during 2018 in the agricultural industry, that number has grown from the previous 2 years. Because of the dangers involved in farming, the third week of September has been proclaimed National Farm Safety & Health Week and is dedicated to educating farmers to help prevent accidents.
