Tractor Attachments & Implements
Maximize your tractor’s efficiency with the right attachment or implement from Birkey’s. The perfect collection of tractor implements can cover numerous field management tasks. If you’re not sure what you’re looking for in tools, though, the sheer variety on the market can be extremely daunting. You’ll need to know what you want from your tools, which will vary depending on the projects you do most often.
Make a list of the steps needed to maintain your property, and then stop by a Birkey’s Farm Store location in Illinois or Indiana to find the right attachments to help you get all your work done quickly and easily. This list of tractor attachments & implements is a good starting point to get you going!
Loader
Without this piece of equipment, you’re not getting the full utility out of your tractor. Attaching a loader allows you to use a material bucket for scooping and dumping loose gravel, sand or dirt. A debris grapple will help you remove fallen trees from an area. The loader is vital for the use of several common implements, so make sure it’s at the top of your list!
Backhoe
A backhoe can be used to dig holes or drainage ditches and remove buried items like tanks or pipes. A backhoe attachment gives you the power to dig deeper holes without eating up too much of the day. Plus, you won’t need as much space to work. You may not need this attachment on a day-to-day basis, but when you do need it, it’s probably going to feel like you can’t move forward with your work without it.
Box Blade
Box blades dig up the ground to soften it, and then spread it thin so you have a nice, even surface to work with. This can be great for soil and fields, but it can also be helpful for laying gravel and making paths.
Rotary Tiller
Rotary tillers are strong enough to till some of the most compact dirt, which is common after winter. This attachment will dig into the ground until you reach fresh soil. Common uses include residential landscaping, farming, and gardening.
Pallet Fork
A pallet fork will come in handy when you need to lift, stack, move, and load pallets, hay bales and other materials around your property with ease. There are various options to choose from, so you’ll have no trouble finding an attachment that’ll be compatible with your equipment.
Landscape Rake
A three-point rake tool that is infinitely useful all over your property. Use it to spread gravel, smooth out ruts in a dirt driveway, comb debris and brush from overgrown patches or even as a stand-in for a harrow.
Snow Pusher/Blower
Not all tractor implements have to be about farming and soil work. When the snow starts piling up, as it inevitably does here in the Midwest, you’ll find a snow pusher attachment is quite useful. Your neighbors might also appreciate a little road clearing if it’s needed. You can either get a snow pusher to shovel snow into piles, or a tractor-mounted snowblower that makes quick and efficient work of the powdery white stuff.
